To X Factor or not to X Factor?
Sunday, August 17, 2008 at 06:47AM 'Everytime it rains, I get wet' - Everytime It Rains by Ace of Base. Beautiful song but I only point it out because its chucking it down outside. British weather... the world is still quiet enough so all I can hear is the rain, which is quite pretty and peaceful to me. Anyways, down to business...
While life for the last few years has been a Big Brother-free zone, I have found that X-Factor is a rather guilty pleasue. However, knowing that it starts now and won't be over until Christmas, I'm wondering if I really need X-Factor every Saturday night (if nothing socially is going on...) as a barometer telling me that another week has just gone by?
I wasn't even going to watch the first audition show last night, but then it was on and I watched it for research purposes... it is some of the most cringe-worthy TV going on, and totally staged, as anyone reaching auditions by that point (with Simon Cowell and the panel) have already made it through one set of auditions with producers to see who will make good watching/sob stories/cringe making. So the poor things that can't sing, no wonder they have false hopes by the time they get there...
And when one show can produce winners like Leona Lewis, but then the likes of Leon (never was a fan) I'm feeling like I don't want to spend my time watching it happen... yet when I walk into a room when it's on, I have to watch the rest. I'm torn, although I've got something on next Saturday night anyway...
And was it just me or did Dannii seem decidedly out-glammed by Cheryl Tweedy? The two of them combined sadly don't have the presence that Sharon Osbourne did.
Just for a little eye candy, here's previous winner Shayne 'absolutely beautiful' Ward singing Over the Rainbow (Leona also sang this in the final... she and Shayne should record it together a charity single). As for X Factor, I want to say I'm out this year...
