Twentysomethings with Teenage Skin: Skin Care
Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 09:39AM Some of us hit our twenties and we're stuck between teenage oily, spot prone skin and warding off the signs aging. Here's Anticelebrity's unisex guide to this skin care quandary, without breaking the bank...
Clean Up - keep skin clean. Wash in the morning and before bed with a cleansing wash/gel designed for spotty skin. Think old school Clearasil or own brands are great (Boots Expert etc). Girls, take your make up off - Tesco Value make up wipes do the job for pennies- do follow up with said wash.
Moisturise - eyes are the first to 'go', apply an eye serum or gel gently for wrinkle prevention. Use a moisturiser that is oil free, with spot preventing ingredienst, own brands do great. Mix it up with something like Eyeko Beauty Cream depending on mood and state of skin.
Scrub Up - scrub or exfoliate a couple of times a week to get rid of rough bits and crappy old skin. Not too often though or skin will get more oily. If it's on offer, the best scrub is St Ives Apricot Scrub, blemish control flavour. Salt, baking soda and soluble aspirin are cheap and effective, just keep away from your eyes and don't scrub too hard.
Emergency - if spots do occur, use Panoxyl 5 Acnegel to treat that area only. It's effective but can be quite drying. Use after washing face and avoid moisturising that area.
The flip side is... oily skin doesn't age as fast, what a back handed compliment!
