Now it's time to look at the bad guys.

What makes a bad guy?

I mean everyone, real life or fiction, good guy or bad guy thinks they're doing the right thing for whatever reason.

Without villains, would we we need heroes? Yes I think.

Random House Unabridged Dictionary defines villain as "a cruelly malicious person who is involved in or devoted to wickedness or crime; scoundrel; or a character in a play, novel, or the like, who constitutes an important evil agency in the plot".

The word villain comes from old French, referring to a person who committed many unchivalrous acts, filtering through to the modern meaning of the word.

Or, more accurately, fiction serves as a lens to focus what we know of life and bring its realities into sharper, clearer understanding for us.
Anime has filtered into pop culture as we know it through adaptations and dubbed versions, for example Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh.

Years ago, I watched some episodes of Sailor Moon, where 5 girls morph into Sailor suits and protect Earth from the bad guys. On the surface it looks girly, cutesy... even a little soft.

Recently I revisited the series and watch the original Japanese versions with subtitles. The American version was so dumbed down. You'd think this series was made for an older audience, or Japanese kids are used to more hardcore material. There's more past and future storylines than Doctor Who, the main charactors are actually reincarnated, it's crazy plus the nudity! Hold that thought...

After America was done with Transformers (1987), Japan scrapped the last series (three episodes) and made 3 more series (Takara) that evolved Transformers beyond what we knew, daring to kill off all the main characters and even blow up their home planet.

With both the original Sailor Moon and Transformers Takara series, they do what American cartoons wouldn't dream of. They swear, have blood, mention dying and going to hell alot, they show painful deaths and think nothing of killing off main characters and bringing them back to life.

Sailor Moon has heavy implication of same sex relationships and contains quite intricate love stories/triangles. There's also a big focus on a stronger force, be that love or belief or friendship, which conquers all and adds so much depth to the Japanese versions.

American cartoons aren't made like they used to be, or like their amazing Japanese counterparts.

If I'm writing about something that is angsty and melodramatic, the label 'emo' gets bantered around.

Today, we're looking at the other side... what is Emo?

Emo-Corner.com classes it as 'Close enough to punk and rock Emo is now known for it's more emotional state of mind. Instead of the anger hard-core way of expressing one-self , Emo (short for emotional) has taken a new toll on the twentieth century of expressing yourself.

From the music with strong emotion and feeling, unlike hard rock or this is more of an alternative way to let your feeling be known.Emo is not only a classification or a type of music it's also taken over the way one expresses them self by dressing.

It includes the tighter fitting pants to the dyed-black or dark hair with it covering your face. The longer hair in front with the spikes in the back is also a more Emo- or emotional look to dressing. From pictures all on the web to the music videos.

via PhotobucketHot emo girl to girl and well as hot emo guy to guy is becoming more and more adventurous and more open concluding; Emo meaning being comfortable with oneself. Its a more direct way of altering the feelings one has without words, just emotion.

Some say music is not a type of music. That it is more of a fashion and a way of feeling, hence the emotional. Just recently people have been considering emo to be a genre or music.. Taking back Sunday is one of the many bands people consider to be emo.

Not all emo people are cry babies or suicidal. Many emo kids come from families which are having serious issues whether it being money issues or what have you.'

What do you think?

(I'm definitely emo when I write poetry, about twice a year, haha and like some of their fashions)
